Cribbage
Peg your way to 121 — score 15s, pairs, runs, and flushes
About This Game
Cribbage is a classic two-player card game with a unique scoring system played on a pegboard. Points are scored both during play and in hand evaluation, tracking combinations that total 15, pairs, runs, and flushes. The first player to peg 121 points wins. A distinctive element is the crib — a separate hand formed from discards that the dealer scores as a bonus.
The game has three phases each hand: the discard (choosing what to keep and what goes to the crib), the play (alternately playing cards trying to make 15 or 31), and the show (counting all scoring combinations in your hand plus the starter card). This layered structure means every hand involves multiple strategic decisions.
How to Play
- Each player is dealt 6 cards and discards 2 to form the crib (extra hand for the dealer)
- A starter card is cut from the deck — it's shared by both players for scoring
- During play: alternately play cards, keeping a running count under 31
- Score 2 points for hitting exactly 15 or 31. Score for pairs, runs, and 'go'
- After play: count your hand. 15s (2pts), pairs (2pts), runs (1pt/card), flushes
- First to peg 121 points on the board wins
